Santa Monica College, established in 1929, is a public community college located in Santa Monica, California. Originally a junior college, it now welcomes over 30,000 students across more than 90 fields. The campus is situated on Pico Boulevard, and there are an additional five satellite campuses located throughout Santa Monica. A majority of students (2/3rds) attend the college on a part-time basis. The highly acclaimed Arts Mentor Program pairs Fine and Applied Arts students with skilled professionals in specialized fields to provide graduate-level training. The college offers courses in seven categories: Business, Education, Society and People, Arts, Media and Entertainment, Culture, History and Languages, and Science, Engineering, Technology, and Math. Students interested in pursuing an associate degree, bachelor of science, or general education can do so through Santa Monica College. In addition, there is a variety of occupational certificate programs available, including Fashion Design and Accounting, as well as a Logistics and Supply Chain program at the AAS and certificate levels. This college is one of a few community colleges with access to a Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy instrument for research purposes. It is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges.
