Established in 1909, The University of Queensland is an esteemed Australian public research institute and one of the six sandstone universities. It is highly renowned for its Doctor of Philosophy, Bachelor of Engineering, and Bachelor of Arts programs and has a large student enrollment of over 55,305 individuals, including 35,051 undergraduates and 19,939 postgraduates. The university consists of six faculties including Science, Medicine, Business, Economics and Law, as well as eight institutes such as the Global Change Institute and Queensland Brain Institute. With a robust team of 7,208 staff members, the university offers a wide range of courses including Drama, Earth Science, Australian Studies, Agribusiness and Veterinary Science. The university has three main campuses, namely St. Lucia, Gatton, and Herston, as well as multiple research sites. The library system of The University of Queensland is well-equipped with over 2.17 million books, 158,000 journals, and approximately 100,000 computers spread across ten branches, including the Central Library, Fryer Library, and Law Library. The university offers Professional Doctorate and Higher Degree by Research programs. To ease the transition for new students, the UQ College initiative prepares them for university life, and there are also multiple courses available in the Summer semester. Additionally, the Study Abroad and Exchanges program enables students from other universities to study at UQ for a semester or two. The university also provides various financial assistance options, including Google PhD Fellowships, Sleath String Performance Prize, Science International Scholarship, and Barbara Hebden Music Bursary. As for accommodation, there are eleven residential colleges with dining services on campus, such as Kings College, Grace College, and Emmanuel College, offering various rooms, including standard, deluxe, suite, and shared options. Eligibility of The University of Queensland
The required English proficiency for admission to this university varies based on the program of study. For clinical programs, a minimum overall score of 7.0 in IELTS is required, with a score of 7.0 in each sub-band. For all other disciplines, a minimum overall score of 6.5 in IELTS is needed, with at least a 6.0 in each sub-band. Alternatively, applicants must have a minimum score of 570 on the paper-based TOEFL, with 5.0 on the TWE and 54 on reading and listening. For the internet-based TOEFL, a minimum score of 87 is required, with at least a 21 in writing and 19 in reading, listening, and speaking. A total score of 64 on the PTE is also acceptable, with a minimum score of 60 in each sub-band. Students who completed XII grade from the CBSE, ICSE, or State Boards of Gujarat, Maharashtra, West Bengal, and Karnataka may be exempt from the ESL criteria if they have received the university's minimum English grades.
