Originally known as the University of the Arts London, but called the London Institute from 1986 to 2004, UAL is a highly ranked institution for art and design, coming in at second place globally in the 2021 QS World University Rankings. Consisting of six prestigious colleges - the Camberwell College of Arts, Chelsea College of Arts, London College of Fashion, London College of Communication, Wimbledon College of Arts, and Central Saint Martins - UAL offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate, post-graduate, pre-degree, and short courses in 18 different fields. Popular subjects include animation, 3D design, communication, graphic design, fashion design and pattern cutting, fine art, textiles, and more. With a truly international student body with representatives from 130 countries around the world, UAL draws in 18,000 learners, who benefit from the expertise of top-notch faculty members, including professional artists, designers, technicians, and theorists. Additionally, UAL takes great pride in being home to 36 out of 77 Royal Academicians, all of whom are alumni of the university.
