The origins of Worcester University can be traced back to 1948 when it was first established as Worcester Emergency Teacher Training College. However, it was not until 1997 when the Privy Council affirmed its degree-awarding powers that its name was officially changed to University College Worcester. In 2005, the university received university status and adopted its present name. In 2010, the HM Privy Council granted the university the authority to award research degrees. Today, the University of Worcester has four sprawling campuses spread across Worcester. The St John's Campus is where it all began and is home to various teaching spaces, sports facilities, and housing options for students.
