Eligibility of The University of British Columbia
This is information regarding admission eligibility for various programs at our university. It is important to note the specific requirements for each program, as well as the English proficiency criteria that must be met.
Undergraduate level:
Students must have completed 12th grade in a relevant field with a minimum overall score of 85 percent in English. This can be demonstrated through one of the following standardized tests:
- IELTS: An overall score of 6.5 is required, with a minimum of 6 bands in each component.
- PTE Academic: A minimum total score of 65 is necessary, with at least 60 in each section.
- TOEFL: A total score of 90 is required, with 22 in each section.
Graduate level:
Students must hold a bachelor's degree with a first-class or division, 65 percent aggregate, or a CGPA of 8 on a 10-point scale. Alternatively, a master's degree with the same criteria can also be accepted. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the English language with one of the following tests:
- IELTS: A minimum overall score of 6.5 is required, with at least 6 bands in each component.
- PTE Academic: A minimum total score of 65, with at least 60 in each part.
- TOEFL: A minimum total score of 90 is necessary, with specific section requirements of 22 for reading, listening, and writing, and 21 for speaking.
MBA program:
Applicants must have completed a bachelor's degree with a CGPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, equivalent to a 75 percent aggregate. In addition, a standardized test must be taken to assess aptitude, such as:
- GMAT: A score of 550 is required, with at least 50th percentile in both quantitative and verbal sections.
- GRE: A score of 155 in both verbal and quantitative sections is mandatory.
Furthermore, candidates must meet one of the following English proficiency criteria:
- TOEFL: A minimum score of 100 for the internet-based test, 600 for the paper-based test, or 250 for the computer-based test.
- IELTS: An overall band of 7.0 is necessary.
- PTE Academic: A total of 70 points is required, with at least 60 in each section.
- CAEL: An overall band score of 70 is mandatory.
- CAEL online: A minimum overall score of 70 is required.
