Eligibility of University of Northampton
Applicants from other countries are required to meet specific criteria for the programme and courses they are applying for. Moreover, they must also fulfill the English language proficiency standards set by the university. For Bachelor's degrees, a minimum overall score of 6.0 in IELTS with no less than 5.5 in each section is necessary. For Master's degrees, a minimum overall score of 6.5 in IELTS is mandatory, with a minimum of 6.0 in writing and 5.5 in all other sections. As for postgraduate research degrees, a minimum overall score of 7.0 in IELTS is required, with a minimum of 6.5 in each section. These scores are equivalent to other recognized English language tests.
Placements
The University of Northampton offers numerous benefits to its students, such as the opportunity to gain practical work experience alongside their studies. This Work-based Learning (WBL) allows students to supplement their education with hands-on experience, and complete module assessments that reflect on their experience, earning them an award. Every academic year, approximately 3,500 students engage in WBL as part of their coursework, resulting in high pass rates for the modules (93 per cent). These work opportunities may include placements, client briefs, internships, or paid employment. Some of these programs may even receive professional recognition. Moreover, all students enrolled in combined honors courses have the option to undertake a funded placement year. The university highly encourages students to seek out their own WBL opportunities, which not only allows them to apply their previous work experience but also enhances their employability. Students are fully supported by the Changemaker Hub, available to all confirmed offer holders, to help them identify their desired skill sets and focus on them to improve their prospects for employment. The university's Changemaker Hub and course teams ensure that students are presented with appropriate WBL opportunities, tailored to their course requirements and personal interests.
