Prospective students with minimum scores of IELTS (6.5), PTE (50), or TOEFL (72) can apply for undergraduate and graduate programs three months prior to the semester. The tuition fee for undergraduate programs ranges from AUD 29,950 to AUD 34,950, while for graduate programs, it ranges from AUD 30,950 to AUD 37,000. Furthermore, eligible candidates can also avail a 25% reduction in tuition fee through the Tasmanian International Scholarships. Eligibility of University of Tasmania
The University of Tasmania (UTAS) has specific requirements for international students. The prerequisites vary for each course and program. Indian students must meet the admission grade, English language proficiency, and subject-specific qualifications in order to be considered for an offer.
For students who do not meet the academic criteria for their undergraduate major, the option of enrolling in the UTAS Foundation Studies Program is available. A B grade in CBSE/CISCE English and a 10+1 in CBSE/CISCE or All India State Board Mathematics is required, with the acceptance of provisional results. In case the minimum English proficiency level is not met, students must undertake UTAS Access -English Level 5.
To be admitted into the first year of an undergraduate program, applicants must submit an All India Senior School Certificate with a minimum of 65% in the best of four core subjects, including English (excluding Physical and Health Education, and General Studies). Most undergraduate courses require a minimum admission score based on the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR). *For TIS, the minimum required is 75% or 10 points higher than the ATAR (whichever is higher).
Various Indian boards of education recognized by UTAS include Senior School Certificate in India (AISSC), Certificate of Indian Schooling (ISC), and Secondary Education Central Board (CBSE). Boards from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, and West Bengal are also acknowledged.
For admission to most postgraduate courses, a qualification equivalent to an Australian bachelor's degree from a recognized institution is mandatory. Apart from fulfilling the English language requirements, students must also meet specific subject-related criteria.
In order to apply for a PG Research program, a minimum of Lower Second Class Honours and an IELTS score of 6.5 with no band below 6.0 is required. For PhD programs, an equivalent of an Australian bachelor's degree with Upper Second Class Honours or better is mandatory, along with a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 with no band below 6.0.
