Previously part of the University of Albany in 2003, the Albany campus offers a variety of programs for students. SUNY Polytechnic Institute holds the distinction of being the first amongst five Polytechnic institutions to offer educational programs in nanotechnology. In addition to being recognized by the Board of Regents of the State of New York, all academic programs at this institution are certified by the State of Education Department. • Unpaid internships: Though these internships do not offer monetary compensation, they can still be beneficial for your skill development and career prospects.

Credit-bearing Internship Process
If you are interested in earning credit for your internship, here is the process you need to follow:
• Choose a faculty member from your program to act as your internship course instructor.
• Collaborate with your instructor to complete the Internship Learning Contract. This document outlines the academic significance of your work and serves as your course curriculum.
• Determine the frequency of interaction with your instructor and the academic coursework required for the credits you are seeking.
• Keep your instructor and the Office of Career Services informed of any changes in your internship status.
• Your site supervisor will also provide guidance on your responsibilities as an intern.
Evaluating Your Internship
To receive a grade for your internship course, you will need to submit three documents:
• Internship Learning Contract: This document outlines the academic significance of your internship and will be completed with your instructor.
• Site Supervisor Questionnaire: Your internship site supervisor will fill out this questionnaire to evaluate your performance at the job site.
• Student Internship Employer Evaluation: You will also be evaluated by your employer through this form.
• Student Internship Evaluation: To provide your own insights on the value of your internship experience, you will also need to complete this evaluation.
